Golden Grove Traffic Stop Uncovers Loaded Handgun

A man has been arrested and charged with a number of offences after police located a loaded firearm during a vehicle stop at Golden Grove.

Just before midnight on Thursday 20 August, police stopped an MG SUV on The Grove Way after detecting the vehicle allegedly travelling at more than 120 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Checks revealed the driver, a 26-year-old Underdale man, had a disqualified licence.

Police subsequently searched the vehicle and allegedly located a loaded handgun, a quantity of drugs and a set of suspected stolen number plates.

Further investigations at an Underdale address led to the discovery of ammunition.

The man was arrested and charged with firearms, drug and traffic offences. He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today, Friday 21 August.
