Good news for local hay business

Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Robyn Gulline joined Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Regional Victoria Danielle Green and Tony Huebner from Johnson Asahi in Dooen on Wednesday to celebrate the State Government's backing of a new hay processing facility.

The new facility will be based at Johnson Asahi's new Dooen site and will create 20 new full-time jobs. The project construction is expected to be completed in September 2022.

The site will feature a new hay processing plant and warehouse, which will support a production boost to 180,000 metric tonnes of cereal hay and straw each year.

The site is also conveniently located close to the Wimmera Intermodal Frieght Terminal, which allows producers from across the region to export their product internationally.

The grant of $500,000 for the project is funded through the State Government's Regional Jobs Fund.
