Goulburn Mulwaree Library has received a $120,000 grant to refurbish and upgrade its combined children's and event space.

The NSW Public Library Infrastructure grant program, administered by the State Library of NSW on behalf of the Library Council of NSW, assists NSW councils to improve library infrastructure, buildings, and technology systems. Goulburn Mulwaree Library was one of 23 NSW Councils to receive the funding this year.

The Library's children's room will undergo a complete refurbishment, including new flooring, lighting, shelving, audio-visual equipment, and furniture. The refurbishment will greatly enhance the Library's programs and events for children and young people and will create a new and updated welcoming environment for Library visitors of all ages.

NSW State Librarian Dr Caroline Butler-Bowdon is delighted that the funds will enable councils to develop or improve their services. "Public libraries are such important free spaces, providing services that nourish education, literacy, culture, and recreation. Libraries are about finding out where we all fit in the world, and library building upgrades make it easier for more people to access the high-quality collections, connectivity, and committed staff. The State Library greatly values its relationship with the public library network and is pleased to administer this funding on behalf of the Government."

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor, Cr Nina Dillon said, "This funding is a fantastic investment in our community, and we're thrilled to be upgrading the library's children's and event space to better support learning, creativity, and connection for families across Goulburn Mulwaree."

The Library refurbishment is expected to commence in October and be completed by the end of 2025.
