Government infrastructure plan building economy, creating jobs

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government's record $3.6 billion infrastructure program will support the creation of 10,000 jobs over the next four years.

We know building the inter-generational infrastructure our growing state needs is key to unlocking investment and creating jobs and that's why since 2014, the Hodgman majority Liberal Government's plan has supported 13,500 new jobs and created a nation-leading economy for the first time in 15 years.

Unlike Labor and the Greens, who left the state budget with a cumulative deficit of $1.1 billion and our state a national economic laughing stock, our plan to build the vital infrastructure Tasmania has led to nation leading business confidence.

The 2019-20 State Budget invests $3.6 billion into job-creating infrastructure over the forward estimates including into new schools, better hospitals, and road and rail upgrades across Tasmania.

Through our 10-Year Infrastructure Pipeline and our 30-year infrastructure strategy, we are building business confidence and confident businesses invest for growth and in more jobs for Tasmanians.

With the shadow treasurer admitting Labor is yet to have a vision, plan or budget, we make no apologies for continuing to invest to create an even better Tasmania.
