The Morrison Government has ensured families in the New South Wales communities of Henty and Walla Walla will continue to have access to vital child care services.
The Government has provided certainty for families following the recent announcement by Albury Wodonga Community College of its intention to close child care services from 21 December 2018.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government is committed to ensuring regional and rural families have access to high quality child care, wherever they live.
"This result is a great example of government, local council and communities working together to provide effective child care solutions for regional families," Mr Tehan said.
"Following meetings with community representatives and a community roundtable attended today by my parliamentary colleagues Craig Laundy and Sussan Ley, the Greater Hume Council has come forward to run child care in Henty and Walla Walla for the next two years.
"This means that families in the Greater Hume Council area will continue to have access to child care subsidised under our Government’s new child care package."
Mr Tehan said the Morrison Government would also provide the Greater Hume Council with grant funding under the Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) to meet the costs of delivering child care to the community.
The Government will continue engaging with the Wodonga community to offer business support and encourage providers to consider delivering child care services in the area to ensure local families have ongoing access to quality child care.
