Governor Young confirmed as Keynote speaker at IWD breakfast 2022

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland Branch, today confirmed the keynote speaker at their annual International Women's Day (IWD) Breakfast would be Her Excellency the Honourable Dr. Jeannette Young PSM, Governor of Queensland.

The breakfast, which will be run as a COVID Safe Event, is taking place on International Women's Day (8 March 2022) in the Ballroom at Victoria Park, Herston. Attendees will get the chance to enjoy a fun morning of networking over a great breakfast, an inspiring presentation as well as the chance to win some fabulous lucky door prizes.

The theme of next year's International Women's Day is #breakthebias. The theme has been chosen to raise awareness of bias in the workplace with the aim of eliminating bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

Queensland Branch Vice President, Amanda Seeto said she was very pleased Her Excellency the Honourable

Dr. Jeannette Young would be addressing the breakfast.

"As a profession we have had the honour of working very closely with Her Excellency in her previous role as Chief Health Officer (CHO) of Queensland," Ms. Seeto said.

"As most know, Her Excellency has been instrumental providing the expert advice to the State Government with regards to it managed the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Queenslanders owe a great debt of gratitude to Her Excellency for her service to our community through the pandemic," said Ms. Seeto.

"We recently had the opportunity to award Her Excellency Dr. Young with our highest honour at the Pharmacy Guild by awarding her the Queensland Branch President's Award," said Ms. Seeto, "as a profession we could not have had a better partner than Her Excellency in helping us navigate this pandemic as we provided front-line care to our communities.

Ms. Seeto said the confirmation of Her Excellency Dr. Young PSM addressing the breakfast would likely mean more interest in attending the event.

"I know it may seem a bit early to be thinking about IWD," said Ms. Seeto, "However, we wanted to get this wonderful news out early so that everyone has a chance to get a ticket."
