Govt Worker Charged With High-Range DUI in Bega

A NSW Government employee has been charged with high range drink driving in the state's south this afternoon.

About 2.50pm today (Tuesday 2 December 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Bemboka area – about 35km west of Bega – when they received a report that a Toyota Prado was driving dangerously.

Following a search of the area, officers located the Toyota parked on the Snowy Mountains Highway, about 3.50pm.

The driver – a 55-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside breath test with allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Bega Police Station, where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.183.

The man – who is employed by the NSW Government as a driver – was charged with drive with high range PCA and had his licence suspended.

The 55-year-old was issued a court attendance notice to appear before Bega Local Court on Tuesday 23 December 2025.
