Federation Council has celebrated a wonderful turnout for its 'On the Green' Grandparents' Day event, which saw local children and their grandparents enjoy a unique morning of stories, bowls, and morning tea.
The special event, held in partnership with the Corowa Bowling Club, was hailed as a great success, bringing families together for intergenerational fun.
The morning kicked off with a special Storytime session in the library, where children were captivated by stories before moving outside onto the bowling green. There, grandparents guided the younger generation in an enthusiastic game of lawn bowls, followed by a delicious morning tea enjoyed by all.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, said the event perfectly captured the spirit of community and family.
"'The event was a tremendous success and a beautiful way to celebrate the invaluable role grandparents play in our community," Cr Cook said.
"It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the special Storytime, and then having a go at bowls together. The enthusiastic laughter from the green as the children played alongside their grandparents was just wonderful."
Cr Cook extended her thanks to the local club for its support.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Corowa Bowling Club for providing the wonderful venue and the delightful morning tea," she said.
"Partnerships like this are essential in delivering these meaningful community events. It was a memorable morning for everyone who attended."
The event was a collaborative effort between Federation Council Library Services and the Corowa Bowling Club, promoting literacy, activity, and intergenerational bonding.
