With the festive season fast approaching, the City of Hobart is encouraging community organisations to apply for Community Christmas Carol Grants—providing up to $15,000 in funding to support free, inclusive Christmas events across the city.

Last year, the Hobart Men's Barbershop Harmony Club received a grant of $4045 to support rehearsals and performances by the Deep South Chorus.

The project brought together men from across Hobart to learn and perform Christmas songs, culminating in pop-up performances in the CBD, hospital wards, and local carols events.

Cr Gemma Kitsos said the initiative was a great example of how Christmas can be a platform for connection and wellbeing.

The Community Christmas Carol Grants are part of a broader suite of City of Hobart competitive grants open now, designed to support creative, community and event-based initiatives that make a real difference.

Grants available:

  • Community Christmas Carol Grants – up to $15,000
  • Community Grants – $1000 to $5000
  • Creative Hobart Small & Medium Grants – $1000 to $15,000
  • Creative Hobart Major Cultural Organisation Grants – over $20,000
  • Event Grants – $1000 to $20,000
  • Event Partnerships – over $20,000

Applications close 3pm Monday 1 September 2025.
