Responding to the callout for passionate community members from New Brighton, South Golden Beach and Ocean Shores, the newly formed Place Planning Collective North gathered last week for their first meeting.
"This was a fantastic opportunity for the group to connect, share ideas and review the charter," Sharyn French, Manager Environmental and Economic Planning said.
"We appreciate the collective members willingness and enthusiasm to collaborate with Councillors and Council Staff to champion the actions identified by the community through the Place Plan." she said.
Some of the key actions within the Place Plan include:
Working toward a strategic network of safe paths and cycleways.
Improved road safety for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists in identified locations and streets.
Increased public transport in the area.
"Moving forward, the focus will be on prioritising Place Plan projects to help guide the next Operational Plan and Developer Contributions Plan, while overseeing implementation across New Brighton, South Golden Beach and Ocean Shores," she said.
