Greater Flagstone community hails a ride on new 535 bus service

The first dedicated bus service connecting the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA) to Grand Plaza Shopping Centre in Browns Plains has rolled out from the depot.

Minister for State Development Cameron Dick shared in the excitement of Flagstone residents and the better-connected businesses and services along the new public transport route.

"The new 535 bus service operates Monday to Friday, 5.30am and 8:00pm, and will steer an improved lifestyle for residents in and around Flagstone," Mr Dick said.

"It will ensure better access to jobs, schools, healthcare and services in Logan and Brisbane.

"This is a joint initiative between Economic Development Queensland and TransLink, funded by development charges for the Greater Flagstone PDA.

"And as demand increases through future development, more services will be introduced."

Member for Jordan Charis Mullen said the dedicated service is fundamental to supporting the future growth of Flagstone and offers many opportunities and ongoing benefits for residents.

"With local public transport access within walking distance, commuters will be encouraged to leave their cars at home, which is a step in the right direction when it comes to lifestyle and liveability," Ms Mullen said.

"A trip from Flagstone to Browns Plains with an adult go card is $3.31 (one-zone) or $6.16 (three-zone) if continuing to Brisbane City, an affordable transport option that's even cheaper for seniors, students, or during off-peak times."

Member for Logan Linus Power said the community has jumped onboard and played an integral role in developing this service.

"I would like to thank the many residents who attended the TransLink information sessions and provided feedback to assist with developing the timetable and route," Mr Power said.

From Flagstone, the 535 route includes Flagstone State Community College and Flagstone State School, with connections to TransLink's wider network services to Logan, Griffith University, Garden City, or Sunnybank at Browns Plains bus station.

The 535 service also has connections to express services P142 and P546 to Brisbane City at Greenbank RSL, saving time and money for Flagstone residents commuting to the CBD.
