The Green Party has paid tribute to Te Pāti Māori MP Takutai Tarsh Kemp who sadly passed away early this morning.
"Kua hinga tētehi tōtara nui o te wao nui, ko tō mātou nei hoa a Takutai Moana Natasha Kemp. Auē te mamae, auē te aroha," says Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson.
"I tū kaha, i tū ngāwari hoki tēnei tōtara hei kaiwhawhai i tō tātou nei iwi Māori. Kaua rawa e warewaretia e tātou.
"E tangi hotuhotu ana mātou ko ngā mema Kākāriki, he tangi aroha. Ka aroha hoki ki te whānau, ko ō mātou nei whānau o Te Pāti Māori.
"Hoki atu ki ō nui, ō rahi e hoa. Hoki Māori atu.
"A great tōtara has passed on, our friend Takutai Moana Natasha Kemp.
"Our beloved friend stood as strong as she did with humility for te iwi Māori. This can and will never be forgotten by all of us.
"The Green Party sends love to Takutai's whānau, and our extended whānau of Te Pāti Māori," says Marama Davidson on behalf of the Green Party caucus.
