Greens desperate to restart forest wars

Tasmanian Labor
  • Greens use last private members business to attack native forestry jobs
  • Labor continues to listen to industry and will work to support its growth
  • It is disappointing that the Greens chose to use their last Private Members Business time of 2019 to try to restart the forest wars.

Shadow Minister for Resources Shane Broad said Labor strongly supports a viable, sustainable and ongoing native forest industry in Tasmania.

"The Greens today sought again to attack forestry jobs and restart the forestry wars, in a desperate attempt for relevance," Dr Broad said.

"The Greens are no better than the Liberals, who are seeking to use forestry jobs as a political football.

"Labor is a strong supporter of Tasmania's native forest industry and will continue to work constructively with them on the development of forest policy."

Shane Broad MP – Shadow Minister for Primary Industries, Fisheries and Water
