Greenway Link - a bike ride through history and scenery

Cycling is one of the best ways to discover more about The Hills and its local history, while also keeping healthy and active during the stay-at-home period.

And the Greenway Link cycleway, from Bella Vista to Rouse Hill, is a great option to begin your cycling journey and to learn more about historic Bella Vista Farm - a homestead which was instrumental in the development of the Australian pastoral and agricultural industries in the nineteenth century - and Aberdoon House - an intact Colonial Georgian Cottage in Rouse Hill.

The 12 kilometre cycleway begins at The Farm, located on the corner of Elizabeth Macarthur Drive and Norwest Boulevard in Bella Vista, and continues around the significant property, through scenic bushland, housing estates and past shops and cafes – a perfect pit stop to enjoy a takeaway coffee or an on-the-go meal.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the Greenway cycleway was one of the best ways to participate in exercise this stay-at-home period.

"Exercise is incredibly important, especially for both mental and physical health. It's also a great option for those looking to keep active, while complying with the latest health restrictions," Mayor Byrne said.

"You can cycle the entire way or complete the link in sections, as well as check out Bella Vista Farm and Aberdoon House and soak up the history.

"The Greenway cycleway is an important link in our cycle network that connects destinations, including Bella Vista Farm with train stations, schools, parks and shops, as well as suburbs.

"Council has delivered more than 100 kilometres of cycleways and footpaths, and I'm proud to see people using them for fun, fitness and travel," Mayor Byrne added.
