Grievous bodily harm at Rockhampton

A 21-year-old man has been charged after allegedly setting another man on fire at Rockhampton on Saturday, January 4.

Just before midday, a 41-year-old man presented to Rockhampton Hospital claiming to have been set on fire.

Police commenced an investigation and will alleged the 21-year-old man attended a residence at Campbell Street, Rockhampton.

An argument has taken place between the pair and the 21-year-old man allegedly sprayed the other man with an accelerant and set fire to him.

Police attended the address around an hour later and took the man into custody.

The 41-year-old man suffered burns to a large part of his body, including his head and neck. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A 21-year-old Wandal man has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
