Grievous bodily harm charge in Gympie, QLD

Police have charged a 35-year-old man following an alleged altercation with another man at a residence in Gympie overnight, Queensland Police say.

Around 9:40pm the man was allegedly involved in a physical altercation at an Elizabeth Street residence, resulting in a 35-year-old man sustaining stab wounds to his chest and stomach.

The victim was transported to the Gympie Hospital before being airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The pair were believed to be known to each other.

A 35-year-old East Deep Creek man has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in the Gympie Magistrates Court this morning.
