Grievous Bodily Harm charges, Rocklea

Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have arrested and charged a man following the alleged serious assault of another man at Rocklea earlier this week.

On Monday July 4 around 7.30pm investigators will allege a 32-year-old Redbank Plains man assaulted a referee officiating a social football game at a Tramore Street oval.

Police will further allege the 32-year-old man, who was a player in the game, struck the man on the face and head during the match causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground. The victim sustained bleeding on the brain and was hospitalised but has since been released.

Following significant inquiries, detectives today took a 32-year-old Redbank Plains man into custody without incident at a shopping centre on Kruger Parade.

He was charged with one count of Grievous Bodily Harm and denied police bail. He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday July 9.
