Griffith City Council advises the community that construction works associated with the introduction of paid parking at Griffith Regional Airport will commence in early April.
Works are scheduled to begin on site by Tuesday 7 April 2026, with preliminary site set-up activities, including service locating and potholing, expected to occur from Monday 30 March 2026.
The project includes upgrades to the airport's existing entry and exit points. During construction, traffic conditions will change as works are staged to ensure continued access. The community are asked to take care when driving and to follow traffic control devices identifying changed traffic conditions.
Chair of Council's Airport Committee, Councillor Christine Stead said the works are an important step in preparing the airport for the introduction of paid parking.
"Council has already adopted the paid parking framework for Griffith Regional Airport, and these works are an important step in preparing the site for that system to be commissioned," Cr Stead said.
Airport users are asked to allow extra time when travelling and to follow all traffic signage.
Construction works are expected to take approximately 10 to 12 weeks, subject to weather conditions. Council appreciates the cooperation of airport users and the wider community while these works are carried out.
