Griffith Regional Theatre invites local and regional performers to an inspiring Musical Theatre Masterclass on Saturday 18 April 2026, 9.30am-3pm.
Led by two of Australia's most celebrated musical theatre artists, Queenie van de Zandt and Michael Tyack OAM, this one‑day workshop offers performers of all levels the chance to refine their storytelling skills, boost confidence and deepen their connection to song and character.
Designed especially for regional and community theatre lovers, the Masterclass blends practical coaching with fun group work, guiding participants through the essentials of musical storytelling and the art of performing with authenticity. Attendees will learn how to merge acting and singing, build characters, and bring songs to life with personality and heart. Expect a relaxed, supportive environment filled with laughs, expert guidance, and techniques you can take straight into your next rehearsal.
Queenie van de Zandt is one of Australia's most distinguished musical theatre and cabaret performers, as well as the founder and director of the Australian Musical Theatre Academy (AMTA). She is joined by Michael Tyack OAM, one of Australia's most respected musical directors, whose credits include Cats, Come From Away, and Mary Poppins. Together, they bring decades of professional insight to this rare regional masterclass opportunity.
The Musical Theatre Masterclass is for ages 16 years and older, costs $35 per person and a light lunch is included.
And don't miss the two on stage the night before, with Queenie's smash‑hit musical improv cabaret Choose Your Own Musical Theatre Adventure on Friday 17 April at 7:30pm. Audiences will help shape the storyline live on stage in this hilarious, unpredictable, and joy‑filled celebration of musical theatre – the perfect prelude to the Masterclass.
Tickets for the masterclass and the performance can be purchased from the Box Office, by calling 6962 8444 or visiting www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au
