Griffith Regional Theatre was officially opened on Saturday, 14 March 1987, and to mark its 40th Birthday, plans are underway for a Gala Concert on Sunday 14 March 2027.
Theatre Manager, Margaret Andreazza, said the 40-year milestone was too significant to let pass without celebration.
"We are going to stage a Gala Concert celebrating our Theatre and the many performers and performances that have taken place there," she said.
In order to make this idea a reality the Theatre is seeking Expressions of Interest from people interested in assisting to coordinate the concert as Creative Director. This person will work with Theatre management to design a program that will reflect the Theatre's history and will feature a range of local performers.
"I'm looking forward to working with a Creative Director to stage a wonderful concert that our community will enjoy, and that may feature highlights of past performances and bring back memories for audiences, as well as featuring the best of our current talented local performers," Mrs Andreazza said.
Key responsibilities will be to ensure the event is developed, designed and delivered to a high standard, on time and on budget. They will engage performers and will liaise with them and the Theatre technical team as to their specific requirements.
Interested people are invited to view the EOI document on the Theatre website and submit their applications before 14 August 2026.
"Once we have appointed a Creative Director, people can expect to hear more about this Gala event and how they can be involved as performers. Tickets for the Gala Concert will be released at a later date once the program has been finalised," Mrs Andreazza said.
