Rice levy payers and industry stakeholders continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of Australian rice research, development and extension (RD&E) through the Levy Payer Feedback and Engagement Survey 2026.
The Levy Payer Feedback and Engagement Survey 2026 provides rice growers with a direct opportunity to share feedback on industry challenges, emerging issues and research priorities, helping ensure levy investments are aligned with what matters most on farm. Insights collected through the survey are shared with AgriFutures Australia to help guide RD&E focus areas and future investment decisions.
Your voice matters as the industry plans for the future
The Riverina rice industry is facing some real challenges - from tight water availability and rising input costs to increasing competition from other farming systems. At the same time, these pressures present a powerful opportunity to refocus research priorities and strengthen the industry for the future.
AgriFutures, in consultation with rice levy payers and other industry stakeholders, is developing a new Rice RD&E Plan. The details collected through the survey will support the development of this plan, helping ensure future investment is targeted toward the areas that will have the greatest impact on productivity, profitability and long-term resilience.
By sharing your insights through this short survey, growers can help guide RD&E investment toward the areas that matter most - particularly around the key factors influencing rice production in a changing environment.
Closing the feedback loop
The survey forms part of the Voice of the Levy Payer Project, delivered by the Ricegrowers' Association of Australia (RGA), operates as a two-way feedback loop between levy payers and the AgriFutures Rice RD&E Program. Grower feedback is gathered through direct conversations, industry events and the online survey, then consolidated and reported back to inform RD&E planning and priority setting.
This approach ensures growers' insights help drive innovation, improve on farm decision making and support practical outcomes that can be adopted across the industry.
Your levy. Your say.
This is a direct opportunity for rice growers to influence how levy funds are invested and where future research effort is focused. By taking just a few minutes to complete the survey, you can help shape the next Rice RD&E Plan and guide investment toward the areas that matter most to growers.
Your input will directly influence future research priorities and support a productive, profitable and resilient future for the Australian rice industry.
