The Tasmanian Government is continuing to bolster our skilled workforce, delivering more vocational education and training (VET) across our schools and colleges.
Through the Government's Building Our VET Workforce initiative, industry experts and skilled tradespeople are being supported to transition to VET roles across Government schools, sharing their knowledge and expertise with our next generations of skilled workers.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said through our Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're delivering a job ready generation of young Tasmanians.
"This initiative is already having such a positive impact across our schools and colleges," Minister Palmer said.
"There are 22 graduates of this program who are now delivering VET in our schools, with another five expected to begin teaching in 2027.
"VET is so critical to our state's future, whether for building our homes, caring for those in need, or creating experiences as part of our visitor economy.
"We know there will always be strong demand for skilled workers, and by supporting industry professionals to move into VET, we're ensuring we have the teaching workforce to match."
