Gundagai man charged after fatal collision at Tumblong

A man has been charged following a fatal motor vehicle collision on the Old Hume Highway in Tumblong – near Gundagai yesterday.

About 1.20pm (Saturday 24 August 2019), emergency services attended the scene where a Nissan Patrol, towing a trailer, and a Toyota Hilux Utility collided.

The 60-year-old male driver of the Nissan, from Albury, died at the scene. A 65-year-old female passenger was conveyed to Wagga Wagga hospital. She is in a stable condition and is being treated for injuries to her shoulder.

The male driver of the Hilux, aged 31, was taken to Gundagai Hospital for mandatory testing.

The Gundagai man was later charged with four offences including dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Gundagai Local Court on Thursday 17 October 2019.
