Key Tourism Agreements Locked In

Tasmanian Government

Tasmania's tourism industry is being elevated in key Asian markets following new agreements delivered as part of the State's largest-ever trade delegation.

Led by Premier Jeremy Rockliff, the mission has delivered new agreements with trip.com and Fliggy Travel, further strengthening the State's relationship with the tourism businesses.

Fliggy is a leading online travel service platform that is owned by the Alibaba Group.

"These partnerships are about putting Tasmania on the global map, reaching more travellers and attracting high-yield visitors who stay longer, spend more and support local businesses right across our state," Premier Rockliff said.

"The new agreements include Tasmania being featured on these world-leading platforms.

"In three hours, we had exposure to 70 million people through the Alibaba homepage and 538,000 viewers watching the Fliggy livestream.

"This is a significant result for our State in a very short period of time."

Together, these agreements aim to drive demand to Tasmania; increase visitation during the winter and shoulder season; increase visitor numbers, length of stay and regional dispersal; and target high value travellers.

These objectives support key commitments under the Tasmanian Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.

"Tourists spend about $3.6 billion in the state each year, and we are delivering on our plan to sustainably grow the industry," Premier Rockliff said.

"Tasmania has a world-class tourism offering, and we want more international visitors to experience everything our island has to offer."
