Guns seized from property near Taree after Crime Stoppers tip-off, NSW

A tip-off to Crime Stoppers has resulted in two firearms being seized and the arrest and charging of a man near Forster, NSW Police say.

Acting on information provided by a member of the public to Crime Stoppers, police executed a search warrant on a property on Bucketts Way, Krambach, 40km south west of Taree, about 3.30pm yesterday.

Police from Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command seized two unregistered rifles as well as ammunition, and arrested a 31-year-old man at the home.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with

• Possess unauthorised firearm

• Possess unregistered firearm

• Not keep firearm safely

• Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority

• Cultivate prohibited plant

• Supply prohibited drug

• Possess prohibited drug.

Cannabis plants were also seized.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Forster Local Court on Thursday 30 March 2017.
