Harmony Week Storytime

Lithgow Council

Lithgow Library held a special Harmony Week event on Wednesday 22 March 2023 to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

Mayor Maree Statham acknowledged that "Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values".

To help the audience celebrate, the library staff along with students from the AHSI presented a variety of activities such as painting a Harmony Week handprint, face painting, henna art, traditional dancing, stories, songs and traditional food.

To keep informed about future events at all our libraries, please remember to check out the library Facebook page, the library webpage, or contact your local branch.
