Have a lark in park this March

This March Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has multiple reasons why you should be celebrating Parks Week.

Held from 6 to 14 March, TRC Environment and Community Committee Cr Tim McMahon said the Toowoomba Region had an outstanding selection of parks.

"With 362 parks and maintain 566 open spaces in total, it's no wonder we're known as the Garden City," Cr McMahon said.

"From dog-friendly parks to parks with water features and exercise equipment, we have a park for every occasion.

"There are a number of fantastic and low-cost options to utilise the parks within our Region and rather than going to your regular park, we're encouraging residents to see what other parks are out there.

"While spring is often seen as a great time to celebrate our parks, there is also something special about this time of year.

"The summer temperature begins to cool, the leafage is still in pristine condition and it's just a great time to enjoy quality time in the great outdoors."

To encourage residents to visit one of the many parks in March, Cr McMahon said a wide-range of activities had been planned.

"Parks and open spaces are a valuable resource in our Region and help support physical and mental well-being through healthy and active lifestyles," he said.

"Activities offered this Parks Week across the Region include fitness classes for adults and kids, walking groups, parkrun and much more."

Bookings are required to participate in most activities during Parks Week. For a full list of activities, visit http://www.tr.qld.gov.au/parksweek.
