Have you considered becoming a councillor?

Eurobodalla Council is hosting information sessions on Wednesday 21 July for people interested in running as a candidate in this year's local government election.

Eurobodalla's residents and ratepayers will go to the polls on Saturday 4 September to elect eight councillors and a mayor, who will work together to provide good governance for the benefit of the local community.

Local government elections are usually held every four years in NSW. Due to the 2020 election being postponed last year, the current Council is serving a five-year term and the newly-elected Council will serve three.

To help potential candidates gain a better understanding of what's involved, councillors from other shires will share their experiences and answer questions about the role at two information sessions.

Attendees will learn how being a councillor fits in with other levels of government, what's involved in standing for the election and leadership and professional development opportunities.

The two sessions will be held on Wednesday 21 July at the Council Chambers in Vulcan Street, Moruya; at 1.30pm and 6pm.
