On Sunday December 9, the Department of Transport and Main Roads kicked off their new road safety campaign, highlighting the importance of those who get you home safely after a big night out, Queensland Police say.
The Queensland Police Service encourages everyone to always arrange a #LiftLegend when planning a big night out, especially over the festive period.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said a #LiftLegend could be a friend, a loved one, a colleague, the local bus driver or a cab.
"Someone who sits out a session for the team, just so their mates stay safe and enjoy the holiday period," Mr Bailey said.
Throughout the campaign, the Queensland Police Service will be out conducting Roadside Breath Tests across Queensland at anytime, anywhere.
"Drink drivers represented one quarter of the road toll last year," Mr Bailey said.
"These aren’t just statistics, they’re children, parents, friends and loved ones.
"There are no excuses for drink driving and it is up to each and every one of us to take responsibility for our driving behaviour to prevent these avoidable tragedies."
