Have your say: proposed changes to small mining claims

The Queensland Government is currently investigating how to improve the regulation of small mining claims to help address a range of identified issues, while still supporting genuine small-scale miners and the communities they operate in.

These proposed improvements are set out in a discussion paper which can be found here.

The consultation period closes on 24 February 2023.

AgForce is supporting members to have their say by holding an online one-hour briefing at 1pm on Wednesday 15 February.

The briefing will be provided by Marcus Rees, Director of Georesources Policy from the Department of Resources, to step through the paper and the submission process, and will include a Q&A session.

Registrations are essential and can be made here.

The Government is also consulting on other resource sector issues, including concerning land access and co-existence institutions, and members are also encouraged to have their say on those topics prior to the 24 February deadline.
