Following extensive community consultation, the Hawkesbury Active Transport Plan has been adopted by Hawkesbury City Council.
The Hawkesbury Active Transport Plan which was funded by the Transport for NSW Get NSW Active Program, provides a high level framework for an integrated connected network of walking and cycling infrastructure by completing the missing links and developing safe, quality infrastructure and priority routes. The plan will provide mobility links throughout the Hawkesbury to connect centres, parks and facilities for the community.
Having an active transport plan in place will both inform the allocation of Council's capital works budget and enable Council to attract external funding from Transport for NSW through its 'Get NSW Active' Program to deliver identified projects.
As Council looks to investigate and prepare detailed design of each proposed route, there will be the opportunity to have further consultation and engagement with both technical and key stakeholder groups. This will ensure that the infrastructure delivered meets both Transport for NSW design requirements and user groups' needs.
In keeping with the Hawkesbury Community Strategic Plan 2022-2042, the plan is consistent with the long term community objectives to make the Hawkesbury a great place to live including encouraging and enabling our community to participate in a healthy lifestyle, increasing the range of local partnerships, and providing the right places and spaces to serve the community.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government and Transport for NSW Get NSW Active program.
