Hawkesbury City Council will lift the exclusion imposed on Hawkesbury Gazette effective 2 October 2026.
Council has, since May 2026, invited the Hawkesbury Gazette to engage with Council in order to address Council's WHS concerns which led to its exclusion. Council has continued to assess options to resolve the exclusion for the benefit of the broader community.
Council welcomes the recent approach by the Gazette, stating that it has not deliberately sought to cause psychosocial harm to staff or elected officials in the course of its reporting activities. Council has also noted that the Gazette appears to have obtained membership of the Local and Independent News Association and looks forward to the Gazette upholding the standards required of its membership.
In light of the above, and as a show of good faith, Council has reached the decision to lift the exclusion.
