Scenic Rim's Hazelwood Estate, Blume Restaurant and Tommerup Dairy Farm

Hazelwood Blumes – it's the unmissable culinary collaboration

Standout Scenic Rim destination eateries, The Paddock at Hazelwood Estate and Blume Restaurant at Boonah are collaborating on an intimate dinner event; In the Night Garden.

On Thursday 27 October 2022, top regional chefs Simon Furley of The Paddock and Blume's Jack Stuart will prepare a five-course dinner as guests dine at long tables nestled among the Mountain Mint and Lemon Geranium of Hazelwood's kitchen garden.

Inspired by the abundant Scenic Rim region, named as the Lonely Planet's top ten regions in the world for 2022, the share-style menu will be centered around produce from the sixth-generation Tommerup's Dairy Farm.

A whole Tommerup's Dairy Farm heritage pig will be used nose-to-tail in unique iterations across each course, including a new take on Stuart's cult 'pork sanga' dish and Furley's not-to-be-repeated, hand-rolled, pork fat-infused Choux pastry dessert.

Furley, who's headed up the chef-hatted The Paddock since December last year, says he's excited to collaborate with the talented and likeminded Stuart.

"We share a similar ethos, championing sustainable, local produce to highlight the incredible amount of work that goes into sustainable farming," Furley said.

We're passionate about cooking but we like to have fun with our food, nothing too pretentious."

Stuart, who opened Blume Restaurant late last year, which has already been named in 2022's Delicious 100 best Queensland restaurants, says he jumped at the opportunity to showcase the work of Scenic Rim farmers and providores.

"The Scenic Rim is one of Queensland's most beautiful food bowls and exciting new food scenes," Stuart said.

We're incredibly lucky to work with local produce that stands up against the finest in the country."

Kay Tommerup, who owns Tommersup's Dairy Farm with husband Dave, says the event will be a true celebration of meaningful relationships between farmers and chefs, building real paddock-to-plate connections with diners.

"When we deliver produce to the Hazelwood or Blume teams we know the life of the animal, the care and the time we give to raise them, and the uniqueness of each one is respected," Tommerup said.

The carefully crafted menu will be perfectly paired to a selection of the best drops from each of Australia's renowned wine regions, as hand-picked by The Paddock's resident sommelier Luis Buchan.

Paddock x Blume: In the Night Garden tickets are $290 per person, including five courses with matching wines. For guests wishing to settle in for the evening, luxury overnight lodge packages are available at Hazelwood Estate from $1,049 for two people in a King Farm Cabin, including event tickets and breakfast.

Earlier this month Hazelwood Estate was acquired by The Morris Group, a family-owned Australian business that operates the Northern Escape Collection, a portfolio of boutique sustainable lodges and experiences in Queensland.

Encompassing Orpheus Island Lodge, Daintree Ecolodge and Mt Mulligan Lodge, the collection was crafted with the goal of allowing travellers to experience Queensland in its purest form and to contribute to sustainable economies in the region.
