Healthy, Connected And Sustainable Community

Our community vision for 2035 is now guiding Council's direction for the next 10 years. Here's what it means for you.

We check in with our community every 4 years to renew the Community Plan and make sure it continues to reflect your needs and priorities. The updated Boroondara Community Plan 2025-35 was adopted on 27 October.

Who did you talk to?

We heard from over 5,400 community members. They included 1,150 young people and 1,540 who speak a language other than English at home.

What did you hear?

People in Boroondara care deeply about their community and enjoy the lifestyle it offers. You told us you value our open spaces, strong sense of neighbourhoods, vibrant cultural life and high-quality services and infrastructure.

'You can't go past the green spaces, wide roads and leafy streets. I'm really fortunate in my own neighbourhood that it does feel like community'

- Community member, Kew East

What does the plan include?

The plan brings together 3 important documents: a 10-year vision that reflects what our community wants, a 4-year plan for Council's work and a 4-year plan to improve public health and wellbeing. It outlines what we'll try to achieve, how we plan to do this and how we'll measure success. They're organised around 4 themes: Our community, Our place, Our environment and Our Council.

'The investment we make in the next 10 years will be for the next 30. Keeping that future focus is really important.'

- Community member, Hawthorn

How will Council use the plan?

We'll use the plan as our guide, developing annual actions and budget to help us work towards and deliver priority projects. We'll tell you how the plan's tracking in each Annual Report.
