Hegseth Meets Thai Deputy PM & Defense Minister

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth met with Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai to discuss steps the two countries are taking together to advance the U.S.-Thai alliance and enhance regional security.

Both leaders reflected on the assistance provided by the United States to Thailand following the earthquake that struck Southeast Asia on March 28. The leaders expressed appreciation for the U.S.-Thai alliance and its positive impact on both countries' security and prosperity for more than 190 years. Secretary Hegseth and Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham also renewed their commitment to increase U.S.-Thai cooperation in response to a complex security landscape throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
