Help Shape Future Of Our Community

We're looking for community members with lived experience or knowledge of the needs and issues that impact people with disability, women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Expressions of Interest are now open to join our advisory committees which harness specialist community knowledge and perspective to provide advice to Council on policy and strategy:

  • Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee - represents the interests of all people with disability and promotes universal design and equitable access to goods, services and facilities.
  • LGBTQIA+ Advisory Committee - provides advice, recommendations and advocacy for equality and social inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community across Greater Geelong.
  • Women in Community Life Advisory Committee - advises on the participation, representation, leadership, recognition, safety and wellbeing of local women (including cis and trans women).

Successful members will have an interest or experience in local community partnerships, advocacy, networks or activities. Desirable (but not essential) attributes include:

  • The ability to contribute to the strategic development of inclusion at local government level.
  • Ability to consult with the community you seek to represent and reflect a wide range of views.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the role and function of an advisory committee.

Applications are open to community members aged 18+ who live or work within the City of Greater Geelong.
