Help Shape Future Of Sovereign Drive Recreation Reserve

The City of Greater Geelong is inviting the community to help shape the future of Sovereign Drive Recreation Reserve through a new draft master plan.

Located at 82 Sovereign Drive, Mt Duneed, the reserve is set to become a vibrant local destination for active sport, inclusive play, and community connection.

The draft master plan outlines a vision that fosters a strong sense of place and connection, supports environmentally sustainable design, and provides accessible opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

It has been informed by the Armstrong Creek West Precinct Structure Plan (ACWPSP) and is designed to meet growing demand for sport and recreation in the Mount Duneed area.

Currently, the site features a multi-purpose oval, two netball courts, cricket nets, a Men's Shed, and a small car park.

The draft master plan will guide the delivery of Stage 2, which will develop an additional 3.6-hectare area and integrate it with Stage 1 to form a larger recreation reserve of approximately 8.7 hectares.

The master plan will be delivered in a staged approach with priorities to be determined in the final master plan and subject to available funding.

The master plan proposes the following facilities:

  • Two Australian Rules football/cricket ovals (one overlayed with two senior sized soccer pitches).
  • Two netball courts.
  • A community sports pavilion.
  • Cricket practice nets.
  • Men's Shed.
