Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate a reported attempted assault in Sydney's east this morning.

Just after 6.20am today (Wednesday 6 March 2024), police were called to an educational facility on High Street, Kensington, after a female member of staff reported she'd been threatened by man armed with a knife.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command have been told the woman escaped without injury and reported the incident.

Police have now released a description of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being in his 30s, of Caucasian appearance with a large build, with dark hair and eyes. He has tattoos on his left forearm and right leg.

When last seen he was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts and light-coloured shoes.

Inquiries lead police to believe the man may be in the Bondi area.

Anyone with information about this person is urged not to approach but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
