Help sought from public after young mum, baby assaulted at Wagga Wagga, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after a young mother and her baby were assaulted in their home in Wagga Wagga yesterday, NSW Police say.

Officers from Riverina Police District have been told an unknown man forced his way into a home unit on Day Street about 4.40pm yesterday (Friday 17 August 2018).

The man assaulted a 29-year-old woman before leaving; it’s believed her eight-month-old baby girl was also injured during the assault.

The woman alerted her husband and the family reported the incident at Wagga Wagga Police Station.

Investigators have established a crime scene at the home and are now appealing for anyone who may have seen activity in the area about the time of the attack, to contact Wagga Wagga Police or Crime Stoppers.
