Whether you want to save lives, serve snags, sort books or support your community, upcoming volunteer expos across Eurobodalla could help find your perfect fit.
Hosted by the Eurobodalla Community Support Network with support from local Rotary clubs and Eurobodalla Council, the expos in Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay will bring together local organisations looking for volunteers and residents keen to get involved.
Eurobodalla Council's community development coordinator Rhonnie South said the expos are an easy way for people to see what's out there and what roles suit their interest and lifestyle.
"Volunteer organisations provide significant benefits to our community and the expos are a way to recognise and celebrate their contribution, Ms South said.
"Many local organisations are crying out for volunteers and even a few hours of your time can make a real difference.
"Volunteering isn't just about giving back to the community, it's also a great way to build friendships, confidence and feel more connected."
Ms South said volunteering could also help people build new skills and experience in a supportive environment.
"For people who are retired, new to the area, returning to work or simply wanting to try something different, volunteering can be a really positive first step," she said.
"There are so many different roles available, from community support and events to administration, environment groups and emergency services. There's something to suit all ages, interests and experience levels."
Ms South encouraged young people to come along too.
"Volunteering is a great way to get involved in something you're passionate about while skilling up and getting experience under your belt - it makes you more employable and opens up opportunities," Ms South said.
"For people who might not feel work-ready yet, volunteering can also be a softer introduction into an organisation or team environment in a flexible, low-pressure setting."
The expos also align with National Volunteer Week from 18 to 24 May. They will take place at:
- Narooma Sports and Leisure Centre on Friday 23 May, 10am – 2pm.
- Moruya RSL Memorial Hall on Friday 12 June, 11am – 2pm.
- Bunnings Batemans Bay on Friday 13 June, 10am – 2pm.
