Helping to deliver on what matters for all Tasmanians

Members,

The Rockliff Liberal Government has a clear plan to grow our economy, create jobs and deliver what matters for all Tasmanians.

Minister Nick Duigan said it was an honour to join the Rockliff Cabinet today and be responsible for the exciting portfolios of Energy and Renewables, Parks, Heritage and Small Business.

"My electorate of Windermere encompasses Bell Bay, so I have had a keen interest in the renewable energy opportunities for economic development and jobs in Tasmania," Minister Duigan said.

"Underpinning every decision I make as Energy Minister will be keeping Tasmanian power prices the lowest in the nation while ensuring energy security, economic development and creating jobs.

"It will be exciting to work with the Premier as we progress key energy projects such as Marinus Link and advance new wind and solar developments in the State.

"I also want to thank Minister Guy Barnett for his work in the energy portfolio over the past six years, and I plan to advance Tasmania's nation-leading renewable energy credentials."

Minister Duigan said Small Business is the engine room of our economy and employs more than 100,000 Tasmanians across about 42,000 businesses.

"In my 20's, I had my first taste of the impact small business could make when I ran a bus contract on the East Tamar, and I'm looking forward to working with small businesses right across the State as they deal with national economic headwinds.

"My desire is to make Tasmania the most small business friendly State in the nation, and I'm excited to work with the small business community to make this a reality.

"Tasmanians also love their Parks and Heritage, and many of you will know my love for nature and the outdoors – so this opportunity is close to my heart, and I will be working hard to ensure that Tasmania's natural beauty remains the envy of the world."

Minister Duigan once again thanked the Premier for this opportunity to serve the people of Tasmania and the "greatest State in the nation."
