Congratulations to Herne Hill resident Allen Notte who recently received a Community Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Swan for his contribution to the Swan Valley Sporting Club (SVSC) and the local community.

Allen, a passionate and devoted member of the SVSC since the late 1980s, and voted President in September 2000, has worked tirelessly to promote and support the club.

Beginning his time at the club as a young cricketer, Allen has been closely involved with local sports over the years, including running Milo cricket competitions and, coaching several teams including his sons' cricket teams and most recently this year inaugural ladies cricket team.

Since migrating from Italy with his parents to Middle Swan, Allen has built a life for his family in Australia.

"I am very proud to be Australian. Coming over with my parents and having little to no money, I have been able to build my life here in this wonderful country," Allen said.

"I have been able to provide support to my family, and my children have been presented with opportunities."

Allen expresses how proud he was to have his children involved in the family mechanical business in Midvale.

"To have my four kids working in the family business, would have to be one of my most proud moments," he said.

Allen continues his passion for growing the club, now focusing on developing and expanding women's sports teams with women's soccer, cricket and AFL teams already in play.

Allen is proud of the life he has built in Australia and was incredibly humbled and honoured to have received the award.
