High speed driver caught at Middleton, SA

A man has had his car impounded after he was caught driving at a very high speed, only hours after police commenced an operation targeting speeding drivers, according to SA Police.

Just after 6.30am, police were conducting speed detection duties in Middleton, when they recorded a Nissan Skyline sedan travelling at 175km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The driver, a 19-year-old Middleton man was reported for exceeding the speed limit and driving at a dangerous speed.

His car was impounded for 28 days, and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Operation Safe Speed October 2017 commenced just after midnight this morning Friday, 13 October and will run until midnight on Sunday, 15 October 2017, with police targeting speeding drivers and drivers who creep over the speed limit.

This operation will include an education focus, reminding drivers of the hazards of creeping and speeding over the legal limit. A brochure produced by the Motor Accident Commission will be provided to all drivers police speak to over the weekend to help reinforce safety messages.
