Historical indecent treatment, Gold Coast and Port Douglas

Police have charged a 73-year-old man over the alleged indecent treatment of a teenage girl on the Gold Coast and in Port Douglas between 1995 and 1997.

It is alleged the man indecently touched the girl at a Carrara residence between 1995 and 1996 and at a Port Douglas motel in 1997.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit commenced an investigation in 2015.

As a result of extensive and protracted investigations, on Sunday March 17 Victorian police arrested a 73-year-old Swan Hill man at Swan Hill.

Yesterday, the man was extradited to Queensland where he was charged with five counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

His matter was heard at the Southport Magistrate's Court this morning and he has been remanded in custody to reappear tomorrow, March 21.

Investigations are continuing.
