The City of Hobart is helping spread the joy of Christmas by supporting seven community carol events this December through its Community Christmas Carols grants program, with a total investment of $54,212.
Acting Lord Mayor Dr Zelinda Sherlock said the carols program was about more than music - it's about connection.
The carols program follows on from the hugely popular Myer City of Hobart Christmas Pageant and the inaugural The Big Switch On!, which lit up the city earlier this festive season.
This year's program includes events across Hobart's suburbs and city centre, from traditional gatherings in parks and halls to pop-up performances in the heart of the CBD.
A special highlight will be Sing Australia, a local choir performing festive favourites in Elizabeth Mall and the steps of St David's Cathedral on 18 December.
The City is also encouraging people to support Carols at John Turnbull Park in Lenah Valley this Saturday (6 December), after last year's event was cancelled due to poor weather.
City of Hobart supported Community Christmas Carols:
- 6-13 December: Deep South Tidings - Hobart's Christmas Chorus at Hobart City Church of Christ, Calvary Hospital and various CBD locations
- 6 December: Carols in the Park - Soundy Park, North Hobart
- 6 December: Carols at John Turnbull - John Turnbull Park, Lenah Valley
- 10-15 December: C3 Beyond Christmas Carols - C3 Beyond Church, South Hobart
- 14 December: Christmas Carols in Mount Stuart - Mount Stuart Hall
- 18 December: Christmas Carol Singing - Elizabeth Mall and the steps of St David's Cathedral
- 20 December: Carols at the Cathedral - St David's Cathedral
