Hodgman and Rockliff backflip on cruel eSchool cuts

Tasmanian Labor
  • Liberals try to rewrite history
  • School budgets still not safe from cuts
  • Hodgman and Rockliff must tell Tasmanians where cuts are coming from
  • After pressure from the community and Labor, the Liberals have come to their senses and back flipped on cruel eSchool cuts.

Shadow Minister for Education and Early Years, Josh Willie, said that Will Hodgman and Jeremy Rockliff were trying to rewrite history.

"Only last week the Tasmanian eSchool was being forced to cut four full time positions as part of the Government's $450 million slash and burn agenda.

"Information provided to parents also confirmed decreases in staff at the eSchool for next year.

"Will Hodgman and Jeremy Rockliff are trying to rewrite history.

It is estimated that the Education Department will face at least $120 million in cuts over the next four years.

"A serious concern to the Tasmanian community should be that Jeremy Rockliff has failed to rule out cuts to individual school budgets," Mr Willie said.

"We know that cuts to schools means less teachers, bigger class sizes and poorer education outcomes.

"Will Hodgman and Jeremy Rockliff need to come out today and tell Tasmanians exactly where the cuts are coming from."
