Police are investigating a home invasion at Ashfield, during which a man was assaulted, NSW Police say.
About 1.15am (Thursday 3 May 2018), two men forced entry into a home on Cecil Street.
The 55-year-old male occupant was struck on the head with an unknown object, causing a wound.
It is believed the men stole some property before leaving in a vehicle.
A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic specialists.
The man has been taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
While inquiries continue, police believe the incident is likely targeted.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
