Home Invasion in Charlestown

Police have commenced an investigation following a home invasion near Newcastle this morning, NSW Police say.

Just before 5am today, a 28-year-old man was outside his home on Hillsborough Road, Charlestown, when he was attacked by two men.

Police have been told the two men, dressed in dark clothing and armed with an edged weapon attacked the man, before fleeing the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the man for lacerations to his left arm and chest. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact police via Crime Stoppers.
