Home invasion in Leeton

A man has been charged following an alleged home invasion in Leeton yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 2.30pm yesterday, a 27 -year-old man and a 25-year-old female were asleep in their home, when two men allegedly smashed a window and assaulted the man and woman using an unknown weapon.

Both men then fled the scene.

The man and woman suffered non- life threatening injuries and were taken to Leeton Hospital for treatment.

A short time later a 37-year-old man was arrested by officers from Griffith Local Area Command.

He was taken to Leeton Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enters to commit serious indictable offence and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Deniliquin Local Court tomorrow (6 June 2016).
