Home invasions believed to be linked; police probe in Morisset

Investigations are underway after three home invasions in Lake Macquarie overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after midnight (Wednesday 6 June 2018), an 85-year-old woman was in her home on Fassifern Street, Morisset, when she awoke to noises.

The woman saw a man standing in the hallway, before he fled through a window.

A neighbour was able to provide a description of a man seen in the area at the time.

He was described as being over 183cm (6 foot) tall, with a thin build and balding hair. He was last seen wearing long dark pants, and a grey knitted top and was walking toward Bridge Street.

Police also responded to reports of two homes on Newcastle Street, Morisset, being broken into about 4.45am (Wednesday 6 June 2018).

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District have commenced investigations into the incidents, and believe the three incidents are possibly linked.

Crime scenes were established at all three locations and have been forensically examined.

Commander of Lake Macquarie Police Area Command, Superintendent Danny Sullivan, said police are appealing for public assistance to identify those involved.

"Three incidents in one night is particularly disturbing and my officers are utilising all resources at their disposal to identify anyone involved.

"If anyone has information which can assist us, I urge them come forward. Information can be given anonymously," Supt Sullivan said.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to these incidents or who say any unusual behaviour in the area, to call Crime Stoppers.
